Who We Are
The Eastside Redevelopment Task Force exists to bring together all the stakeholders in our community - residents, churches, schools, businesses, and organizations - to accept the responsibility for, and take action towards, the betterment of our neighborhoods and the economic and social well-being of the people who live there.
The impetus behind the formation of the East Side Redevelopment Task Force was brought about by concerned citizens of the City of Buffalo and their struggle to bring respect and prosperity back to their neighborhoods, led by the founder and community activist, Mr. Darnell Jackson. It is their opinion, and that of the founders of the company, that this can only be accomplished through a process of cooperation and identification of mutual interests by the resident consumers and families, spiritual leaders, business interests, and other Community Based Organizations.
In that regard, the EDTF Strategic Plan will continue to be a work in progress. The needs expressed here require ongoing research and development to cope with changes in the community, in our economy, the governments that govern them, and the politics that influence them. Please read and use this information as the basis for a better understanding of our goals and how we want to improve the daily lives of families, youth, seniors, and neighborhoods. If you have information that you can contribute that will move the company forward to achieve its objectives, please let us know. This is a collaborative effort that will never refuse input and contributions from any source that moves us forward. We are anxious to hear from you. The Company needs to raise both awareness and funding to achieve its objectives. This plan has been written with that perspective in mind.
The Eastside Redevelopment Task Force is a not-for-profit agency located at 313 Fougeron Street on the eastside of Buffalo, New York. Our service area is bounded by East Ferry - North, Genesee Street - South, Bailey Avenue - East and Kerr Street - West.
The primary purpose of our agency is to enhance opportunities for the community residents in our service area through neighborhood restoration, job readiness training, academic tutorial assistance and recreational/cultural enrichment programs for all men, women and children.
We are seeking to establish affiliations with various organizations, to create new community partnerships and identify contributors to assist in our efforts to enhance the quality of life for the residents in our target neighborhood. We are willing to work with faith-based, civic, commuity organizations and government agencies, business owners/managers, etc in order to effectively attain a viable neighborhood in which to live and do business. Our families need alternatives to the criminal justice system and feeling they have a life without hope.
We know that with the proper support, commitments and expertise from the community agencies, other entities and government officials, coupled with the neighborhood residents willingness to affect a change in their neighborhood, we can and will make a difference.
